MARIN is hosting a webinar to share the latest findings from two EU-funded projects — BAMBOO and Surewave — focused on offshore renewable energy solutions.

What to expect:

  • William Otto, Senior Project Manager Offshore at MARIN, will explore how platform and array size impact motions and interconnector loads, using analytical models, wave diffraction analyses, and wave basin experiments.

  • Tim Bunnik, Senior Researcher at MARIN’s R&D department, will present numerical results from a 2 MWp offshore solar farm concept featuring a floating breakwater ring.

Why it matters: Offshore floating solar is an emerging technology with the potential to

diversify the renewable energy mix. Ensuring the survivability and efficiency of these systems under harsh marine conditions is a key challenge. MARIN contributes to improving the hydro-structural performance of offshore solar installations across all design stages — from wave basin testing and numerical simulations to real-world field monitoring.
